George is survived by his daughters Amy Helewa; Cynthia Klenz (Barry Blakeslee); Nancy Eberling (David); brother Leonard Sauer (Mimi); eleven grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren, and preceded in death by his wife Martha (Sprenger), daughter Ellen (Corbin), and sons-in-law Joe Helewa and Buck Klenz. In 1968, he started and caught eight passes for the Jets in the third AFL-NFL World Championship Game, helping defeat the NFL's heavily favored Baltimore Colts.
