Professional experience:
Ms. Phuntsho Choden is Manager, Communications and Knowledge Management. Prior to joining SDF, Phuntsho has led communications at UNICEF Bhutan Country Office, World Wildlife Fund -WWF Bhutan and WWF Living Himalayas Regional Programme. At both UNICEF and WWF, Phuntsho has been steady in enhancing the role of strategic communications and parntership, and has strengthened work on communications, advocacy, education, social media, and donor management. She has also worked as a reporter in Kuensel from Dec 2006-2010 before joining as one of the first Media Attaches' to the first democratically elected Prime Minister of Bhutan and the Cabinet Secretariat.
She has a Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism and Communications from Melbourne, Australia and a Master’s Degree in Journalism (specialisation in health, science and environment communications) from the University of Hong Kong.
Recipient of the Best Investigative Reporter of the Year at Bhutan’s first media awards in 2009, Phuntsho has received numerous merit scholarships such as the AusAid Scholarship and Open Society Foundations fellowship 2013. She has also led the South Asia Free Media Association in 2010 as executive member to hold the first and only South Asian Media Summit in Thimphu alongside the SAARC Summit.
